The A4 produced by Audi, which is itself a company belonging to the Volkswagen Group, is a celebrated vehicle in terms of its design for safety. Available in a several different models from estate/wagon to saloon/sedans and convertibles, the A4 is affordable and comparatively fuel efficient. Audi drivers love the rear mounted transmissions and the front wheel drive of these vehicles, but sometimes do report issues with the cars that do need to be addressed.
A common problem that Audi owners have encountered with their A4 B6 models is, unfortunately, leaks in the rear coolant flange. Some owners of older models have alleged that the rear coolant flange is not very well built and will need to be completely replaced every 50,000 miles or so. This is typically not a cheap and quick fix either.
Some Audi owners have discovered a relatively quick fix for leaks in the rear flange, however. In some instances, the cause of the leak may be with the flange that is located between the engine and the firewall. This flange is made of plastic and can eventually warp due to the heat. When this flange warps it can allow coolant to dribble out. Repair kits are available to help remedy this situation if it is occurring in your vehicle.
If your Audi A4 or other model is experiencing problems with the leakage of coolant, you should begin by taking the vehicle to a nearby German import shop as soon as you are able. This is not a repair job that you want to put off for too long.
Search for a local, independent Audi repair shop with Audi mechanics that have dealer-level expertise at a fraction of the expense.
